Bangalore Man Claims Skull Fracture After Alleged Assault by Delivery Agent

A routine grocery delivery in Bengaluru turned violent on May 21, when a 30-year-old businessman alleged he was assaulted by a Zepto delivery agent outside his residence in Judges Colony, Basaveshwaranagar.
According to the complainant, Shashank S, the confrontation began when his sister-in-law tried to collect the delivery at the gate but noticed an address mismatch. The disagreement reportedly escalated, prompting Shashank to step in.

What followed, he claims, was an unprovoked physical assault. In his police statement, Shashank alleged that the delivery agent, identified as Vishnuvardhan, verbally abused him and then punched him repeatedly in the face and head before quickly leaving the scene.
Shashank later sought medical attention, where doctors diagnosed him with a skull fracture. He has stated that surgery may be required if the injury doesn’t show signs of improvement in the coming days.
In an effort to draw attention to the incident, Shashank posted a detailed account along with CCTV footage on his Instagram page, urging Zepto to take accountability.
Zepto, in a brief statement, acknowledged the incident and expressed regret.
“We regret any inconvenience caused. Professional conduct is essential to us, and we’ll make sure this is addressed,” the company said.

Meanwhile, local authorities have registered a case against the accused under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita:
Section 115 (voluntarily causing hurt)
Section 126 (wrongful restraint)
Section 351 (criminal intimidation)
Section 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace)
